SCE Campaign welcomes its newest team member

Melanie Needham is not a stranger to those who helped with the campaigns to save Nazanin Fatehi, Delara Darabi and other children facing execution. In addition to restless campaigning she has contribued with many artworks such as paintings of Nazanin and Delara.

Born in Alberta, Canada, Melanie works in the entertainment industry as a career consultant, managing and promoting musicians/artists. She is also an artist/graphics designer. Melanie is a mother to 5 children and this is what led her to start her volunteer work with The Stop Child Executions Campaign, feeling that children throughout the world deserve the same basic human rights as her own children.

Melanie will be bringing a new energy to the SCE and Delara Darabi pages on myspace. Nazanin Afshin-Jam and the team at Stop Child Executions Campaign warmly welcome Melanie to our family.

Resonance : A song dedicated to SCE Campaign

“I just heard Donna’s beautiful song, Wow they are so incredibly talented. Reading the lyrics gave me serious goose  bumps.”
Nazanin Afshin-Jam
.
” You two compliment each other so well , Donna’s beautiful voice and Graham’s talent!  I have always enjoyed your music……great timing and amazing…. thank you for all that you had done.“
David Etebari    SCE Campaign coordinator

Donna and Graham Greene of Stop Child Executions Campaign, both talented Australian artists, have just released a new music track “Resonance (Spirit of Man)“ dedicated to all who have been involved with the ontinuing http://www.stopchildexecutions.com Campaign.

Donna Greene wrote today: “ I want you to know that I dedicate this track to you …  to the first 5 people (including Vincent) because this is what you brought out in us through our association with you … quite a powerful experience from our perspective.”

….We love you guys from across the waters – particularly Nazanin Afshin-Jam, David Etebari, Kristian & Vincent who have all played a major role in keeping this real life drama at the top of people’s minds to help young people less fortunate than ourselves and to be the voice of the voiceless minors on death row in Iran. Mahan, Lucy, Dave for Saving Delara, Mel, Nikki and everyone else who is still doing their part to help this campaign… you are all amazing and we will be joined for life through this experience. Never give up.  Over the past several months it has been uncovered that there are not 23 minors on Death Row awaiting Execution in Iran (as first depicted on our Video Collage with Graham “Raven’s Eye Pt1.” as the music backdrop) – but in fact 74 minors who deserve fair play, not neglect and ignorance by a world who ‘think they know’. Keep up the international pressure. Shine a light brightly and support Amnesty International’s effort to support the SCE Campaign and to Stop Child Executions once and for all. “

Resonance (Spirit of Man) can be heard at Donna Greene’s myspace site: http://www.myspace.com/donnalgreene

Lyrics:

I didn’t know we could help you.
I don’t know how you feel inside
Now the world wants to save you
I always knew you were born to survive.
Coz I – I – I did.

(I did)

What wonders roam in the mind of a child that a man dressed in black would try to destroy
Was he not a boy?

AD VERSE:
Wasn’t he fair
Wasn’t he good
Wasn’t he ever misunderstood
Was he given any choice

I see you there
Calling for signs
I always knew you were born to survive
There is more to a life

BR: A voice on the earth is calling you out
It Resonates – like hearing them shout from somewhere
Is there any way out…

CHORUS:
Oh No…
It’s over and under and over again
All in the drop of a heart beat
I know it’s hard but we’re holding your hand
Believe in the Spirit of Man.

VSE 2:
What fears roam in the mind of a man
He shuts out the terrors he can’t understand
From when he was a boy

AD VERSE 2:
Wasn’t it fair
Wasn’t it right
To lay down the judgement: A life for a life
Do the victims have a choice

Pray for the good
Pray for the light
But why fight a war just to see whose God is right
(ohhhohhhohhhh)

BR: A voice on the earth is calling you out
It’s a Resonance – like hearing them shout from Somewhere
Is there any way out…

CHORUS:
Oh No…
It’s over and under and over again
All in the drop of a heart beat
We’re worlds apart but we’re holding your hand
Believe in the Spirit

Oh No…
It’s over and under and over and under
Oh No…
We’re worlds apart but we’re holding your hand
Believe in the Spirit of Man.

“..Dedicated to our great and noble friends at the Stop Child Executions campaign.”

Thank you Canada

Nazanin Afshin-jam and SCE Campaign wish to thank Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs , honorable Peter McKay and the Canadian Government for their immediate response to Nazanin’s urgent request to intervene in Sina Paymard’s execution yesterday. Ottawa issued a strong statement yesterday to Iranian authorities about Sina:

Canada Calls upon Iran to Overturn Death Sentence of Sina Paymard

July 17, 2007
No. 94

The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, made an urgent appeal today to Iranian authorities to overturn the death sentence of Sina Paymard.

“Canada calls upon the Iranian government to stay the execution sentence given to Sina Paymard for a crime he was convicted of committing while a minor.

“The Government of Iran must live up to its commitments and obligations under international law as well as its own domestic law. The Islamic Republic of Iran is a party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Both of these international binding agreements clearly prohibit the execution of minors or people who have been convicted of crimes committed while they were minors.

“The execution of minors is a subject of the utmost concern for Canada, and we urge Iranian authorities to commute the death sentence in this case.”
