17 year old Kurdish girl stoned to death in Kurdistan of Iraq

According to report by Human Rights Organization of Kurdistan a 17 year old Kurdish girl named DOA (name translation: prayer) was publicly stoned to death in the Kurdistan province of Iraq . Doa was born to a Yazidi sect which is a religious minority of the Kurds. Doa was in a relationship with a Sunni Muslim boy that she wanted to marry.

At a tribal court, Doa was sentenced to death by stoning. This gruesome act was filmed but due to the extremely graphic nature of this film it is not being posted.

Stop Child Execution Campaign strongly condemn such inhumane practices and requests Government of Iraq, United States, United Nations, other governments, human rights organizations and media to demand an international inquiry to this crime against a young child and to hold those responsible accountable for this crime.

1 - I am utterly appalled and saddened by this report and wish for Doa's soul to find peace now.
It is unbelievable that in this day & age we can sit and watch these atrocities committed against our sisters in the name of man made religious fanatism designed to oppress females into submission and nothing else.
Where is the outrage in the western so-called civilized world? Where are the emancipated women? PLEASE SPEAK UP! WE ARE THE PEOPLE. YOU ARE THE CHANGE.
If you remain silent, your sisters will continue to be tortured, oppressed and murdered. (Comment this)

3 - Please, I would like more information about this. I am deeply saddened. I have recently finished a documentary about the Kurds. I am looking to do another documentary on the subject of human rights, womens' rights, etc. I am gathering information and stories. Anything on this matter would be very helpful. I will do what I can. Any information or links on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

4 - I burst into tears reading this. How tragic that things like this happen in our world. How did people get to this place? I can't understand how a young girl falling in love could incite such rage and brutality. I am heart broken for her and for the people that could have done such a thing. They must be so broken inside to have done such a thing.

5 - John 8:7
"But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

To have Jesus physically walking amongst us agian at this time...
Who will walk in his shoes?

I am so sad about this child. Who can actually throw a stone at someone until death? Is this a job description? Who cannot feel the pain of what they have done by doing this? (Comment this)

11 - Into this sad country weakened by an illogical war comes this discent into cruel barbarity. A seventeen year old girl, barely more than a child is murdered in public at the behest of judges who do know better. No God demands this blood sacrifice. Only the need to control the female half of the race by insecure people can conceive of such an action. We must protest loudly about this waste and santioned murder till this sort of story can no longer happen. (Comment this)

12 - When i read this article, i was in complete awe. A girl only four years older than myself was murdered, because she loved a boy who did not share the same religion as her. All the people that stoned her should meet the same fate, and see what it feels like to be stoned to death. Why kill a seventeen year old girl, because of who she chooses to love? Why not find someone who really deserves to be killed in such a manner. It is so sad that people have to live like this. I couldn't even fathom how much fear she had as a crowd of people surrounded her with stones. It really makes me really appreciate the fact that i live in the United States. God bless this girl wherever she is right now, and bring her killers to justice. (Comment this)

13 - Natalie,

Wake up, your heart goes out to her family? Read up on the story. Her family are the ones that lured her back with promises of forgiveness, then watched as this happened. That is why it is called an "honor killing". In their twisted minds, she had defiled the family name. These people live in the 7th century, and are happy to do so. Feel for them all you want, it is totally sad what happened to her, but don't think for a second they wouldn't do the same to you and yours for simply being an infidel.. (Comment this)

14 - David,

Protest till the cows come home. The process of honor killings was taking place in Iraq and indeed the Muslim world for centuries long before this "illegal, illogical war". You can offer flowers, sing "kumbi-a", and try to rationalize with these "people" all you want, they would just as soon kill you as well. Read a book for Pete's sake. For all of the rambling of the "enlighten" people, you folks just don't get it. There are people in this world that relate to only 1 thing, and that is your ability to kick their ass. It isn't a pretty thing, but it is reality, and until the "civilized" world grows a pair, we are in serious trouble. It makes me wonder, what would the brave souls that stormed Normandy beach do? Besides laugh at how weak we have all become.. (Comment this)

15 - David, They have been doing this for centuries the "illogical war" didn't hasten their discent?(sic)into this act. These poor yezidi are simply applying a very effective strategem to maintain their endogamous cultural mores.Accept this as part of the wonderful diverse tapestry of cultural self expression.Very few Yezidi girls who see this stoning will marry outside of her religion. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Comment this)

16 - I have no words. It is a brutal act and the people who have done this should not be forgiven. That girl will surely, without any doubt, will go to Jannah (heaven) because let it be Jesus or Mohammed (PBUH), they both taught us a lesson of peace and always condemned such acts. May this girl's soul, rest in peace. I would like to request everyone to read this prayer whenever they get reminded of this incident. (Comment this)

17 - nisrine is "waiting for the day when jehovah God holds these humans accountable for their stupidity". Well, take your Bible and read Deuteronomy 13:6, 8-15 to find out what Jehovah God mandates concerning people who convert to other religions, just like this poor girl did. (Comment this)

18 - I agree there is nothing we can do. No matter how many petions you are having, they are still going to kill the kid's. People need to understand that you can not reason with these people. No matter how sad it is. Just be thankful that you were born in The USA. It is so sad I wish you could just go and get the kids out of jail but that is not going to happen. So the only thing we can do is pray for them. I know a lot of people will not agree with me ,that is ok everyone is entiteld to their opinion. (Comment this)

19 - Natalie,

Even though one can say that this situation is sad and occurs way too often, by all means why are you sending your prayers to her family? They are the ones who participated in her death. (Comment this)

20 - Natalie,

Her FAMILY!?!?!?!?! Her family lead this murder. They should all pay the same price. Maybe it's time for one of the males to suffer stoning because of what they did to family HONOR! (Comment this)
